Dental inlays and onlays are used when a tooth repair is too important to be carried out with an amalgam or composite resin. They are made of ceramic material to increase their resistance and durability. The ceramic block is attached to the tooth with a resin that hardens in seconds under the action of ultraviolet light.

If the repair is located within the walls of the tooth, it is called “inlay”. Otherwise, it is called “onlay”.
