Mouthguard

People who engage in sports at high risk of injury (martial arts, hockey, football, soccer, cheerleading, etc.) should always use an oral protector.

Although mouthguards are not shock-proof, they reduce the risk of fracture or loss of teeth. In addition, oral protectors have been shown to reduce the forces that cause concussions.

Preformed and ready-to-wear mouthguards, available at sports stores, offer virtually no protection. The most effective and comfortable oral protectors are those custom designed for your dentist.

For more information, talk to your dentist or visit the College of Dentists’ website on sports and mouthguards
