Sinus Lift

A surgical procedure designed to increase the amount of available bone in the upper jaw, in the molar and premolar region. This procedure is often recommended before placing dental implants, when the natural bone volume is insufficient due to the proximity of the maxillary sinus.

What does the procedure involve?

The procedure involves gently lifting the sinus membrane and placing bone graft material into the space that is created. After a healing period, this added bone creates a base strong enough to support a dental implant.

Why might this procedure be necessary?

Over time, particularly after prolonged tooth loss, the bone in the upper jaw can thin out, partly due to the natural expansion of the sinus. A clinical evaluation, usually including 3D imaging, helps determine whether this procedure is indicated for your situation.
